The Elite to High Street Project
Exploring the future of functional footwear personalisation alongside New Balance, UK Sport and 3D Systems.
I worked as the footwear designer and researcher in a team of world class engineers, sports technologists and human factors experts at Loughborough University. We set out to understand how best to deliver personalised footwear for all levels of consumers.
My role required an in-depth understanding of the consumer, gained through interviews, surveys, observation and focus groups with hundreds of individuals. This information aligned with the functional findings from the other members of the team enabled me to produce a personalisation concept which was validated rigorously using multiple methods.
I also earned my doctorate (shoe doctor?!) in the process and published and presented in international journal papers and conferences.

Development
The team produced a number of functional 3D printed prototypes with the support of digital scanning.
